Focus Areas

The Mission Opportunities that we are offering at GBC are categorized into eight specific focus areas that we will concentrate on in the future:

Focus Germantown . . .

Germantown is our home. It's our community, and it's our number one priority when it comes to Living and Loving Like Jesus. Mission Opportunities in Germantown will be available at multiple times and locations, not just on our GBC campus. We encourage everyone to be involved in some sort of ongoing outreach ministry that takes place in Germantown.

Focus East Shelby County . . .

Though Germantown is our home turf, our current ministry footprint goes beyond our city limits. We not only have members who live all across East Shelby county, but there are continual opportunities to reach those in Collierville, Cordova, Bartlett, and the eastern edges of our county.

Focus Memphis . . .

Culture is like a river. Trends, ideas, policies and worldviews have a tendency to flow from large cities into the surrounding areas. Memphis is a mountaintop of West Tennessee that impacts the lives of millions in its outlying cities and towns. We are called to Memphis. We must minister to everyone from the highest buildings to those on the dirtiest street corners. As we move forward together we will continue to build and develop Gospel-spreading opportunities in the growing city of Memphis.

Focus Denver, Colorado . . .

While Jesus has planted us firmly in Germantown, He continues to use us to spread the good news in places we wouldn't typically expect. Denver, Colorado is a new focus area for GBC where we will support efforts in church planting and evangelism. We will be building strategic partnerships with church planters in Denver to impact this expanding and changing area for the Gospel.

Focus Belize . . .

Our church has committed to reaching the people of Belize, not simply through evangelism but by truly becoming the “hands and feet of Jesus.” Over the last 18 months, many of our church members have traveled to Belize to work on economic development projects, leadership training, church planting, evangelism and tourism. We are committed to making a difference in a country that is close to home, primarily English speaking and provides an easy travel experience for our members to get plugged in. In a country where over 40% of the people live in abject poverty, every step we take in improving their lives is another step in sharing the Gospel and building on the work that God is already doing. We have several trips scheduled to Belize in the coming months and will be working on economic development, recycling and ecological improvement, education programs, leadership development, tourism, medical improvement, and many other areas that will utilize the spiritual gifts, experience and expertise of our GBC family.

Creative Access . . .

Missionaries around the world face more challenges than at any time in history. The most prominent of which is being able to live in foreign countries and work with people under legitimate visas. That’s what Creative Access was designed to help with. GBC members have the spiritual gifting, experience and expertise to help these missionaries start businesses, improve existing businesses and provide outlets for products and services. Creative Access will be a missionary’s version of “Angie’s List” that will allow our members to support missionaries through their professional skills and spiritual gifting. The opportunity to support missionaries via travel and technology will give our members the chance to live out the Great Commission by supporting those who are on the field.

EPOCH Endeavors . . .

Germantown Baptist is a church full of business men and women. We consider this an important trait of our church and feel called to continually use business as a means to share Jesus with others. EPOCH Endeavors is a new ministry intended to develop a community in which youth and young adults, regardless of their background, are equipped with the wisdom and tools to navigate the challenges of society in their business, financial and spiritual lives. Young adults who are passionate about making an impact in the business world will be mentored one on one to sharpen their expertise through the lens of a Biblical worldview.

Feed & Seed . . .

The Feed & Seed store was born out of experiences of GBC members traveling to Thailand to participate in the Creative Access program. While in Thailand, our members were exposed to the creative ways that missionaries are serving people in impoverished areas, helping women escape prostitution and sharing the Gospel through the creating and selling of products. Our vision for Feed & Seed is a retail store that sells products produced on the mission field. As the products "feed" those who purchase the goods, every dollar of profit goes back to “seed” more Gospel work in the field. Feed & Seed will be completely operated by GBC members and provide opportunities to use many spiritual gifts as well as the expertise and experience of those with retail backgrounds.
